But most Would You Rather lists are toothless. "Would you rather have unlimited money or unlimited time?" Nobody sweats over that.

How to Play (Horror Rules)

1. Read the question aloud
2. Everyone must choose — no "neither" allowed
3. Go around the circle and explain your reasoning
4. Majority rules: the most popular answer is the "right" one. Minority players drink (optional)
5. Challenge rule: if someone can't explain their choice in 30 seconds, they drink double

Why Horror Would You Rather Works

Terror Management Theory — developed by psychologists Greenberg, Pyszczynski, and Solomon — proposes that humans manage existential anxiety by constructing meaning systems and worldviews. When Would You Rather questions touch on death, identity, and moral extremes, they force players to articulate those worldviews in real time.

The horror framing removes the safety of hypothetical distance. "Would you rather travel to Mars or the bottom of the ocean?" is abstract. "Would you rather die slowly knowing it's coming or instantly without warning?" is personal.
